Time & Location

The Arches, 20 Rea Street, Lawrence 9532, New Zealand

About the event

Bring your lanterns and join the parade as we march through town, finishing at The Prospector Cafe.  The Prospector is staying open late, so you can enjoy refreshments and hot drinks while watching traditional Chinese lion dancers and Jimmy the Dragon.

The Moon Festival is a traditional Chinese celebration that was brought to Lawrence by gold miners. Also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Moon Festival coincides with the full moon. It is a time for families and communities to gather together. Even people who are far from home can look up and know that their loved ones are watching the same moon.
