Welcome to the first School Holiday Art Sessions for 2023!

Come and explore the fun art of collage with local Lawrence artist Jan Harper

Jan works in the mediums of Sculpture, Collage and Photography and Exhibition Design. You can see some of Jan's Work at the local Tuapeka Vintage Club, and the Tuapeka Goldfields Museum.

Jan will be joined by Community Arts Facilitator Rachel Taylor. Rachel holds a Masters in Fine Arts Degree and is a practicing artist. Rachel has developed Children's Arts Programmes for Otago Museum and Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery in Alexandra.

In this project we will be creating our own special boxes using the art of collage to create personalised themes. All materials are provided but please bring any pictures/decorated papers or embellishments that you may be saving.

Donations of magazines, scrap booking / embellishments, old art calendar's etc.  are very welcome

Also we are looking for donations of interesting small sturdy boxes that could be up-cycled.

Some ideas for themed Treasure Boxes could be:

Steampunk Boxes, Holiday Beach Treasures, Animal Kingdoms, Family Memories, A box of Dreams and Wishes, Flowers and Fairies, Under the Sea-Mermaids and Serpents, Star Wars , under the night sky....It's totally up to you!

This project will take three sessions to complete over three days

Drop off 10:30am

Pick up 1:30pm

Venue: 14 Colonsay Street  - St Patricks Parish Centre

Please Sign Your Child In and Out

Suggested Koha is $20 per child - This fee covers 3 sessions with materials and goes towards our venue hire

Monday 23rd Jan

Introduction to collage, choosing a theme, preparing our boxes, cutting out

Tuesday 24th Jan

Glueing ! Glueing! Gluing!

Painting

Bring clothes that you can get messy!

Wednesday 25th Jan

Finishing up our boxes! This includes applying a protective coating and adding embellishments

Sharing our results and enjoying lunch together

Please ensure your child has a packed lunch for each of the days
