One of the best ways to see the southern countryside is to visit the ghosts of its past.
Walk the path that was, in 1863, the town of Horseshoe Bend.
Pay your respects at the Lonely Graves and uncover the story of Somebody's Darling. Then marvel at the raging Mata-au River atop a 100 year old suspension bridge.
This shared walking and bicycle track is 24 km (3 hour return), and is an intermediate-level walk. This gravel road is also used by vehicles, please take care.
